Greenhills Beach

We had the privilege of providing the structural engineering to this beautiful architecturally designed house located alongside the ocean in Greenhills Beach.

The team at Elegant Engineering worked closely with both the architect and builder to achieve a model that allowed openness and flow throughout the home while addressing the structural requirements.

Our design included a concrete slab for the first floor with exposed concrete perimeter beams. A lift was also incorporated into the design, and provisions were constructed for a future loft level if required.

Early in the design the team at Elegant Engineering identified one of the key design requirements. Looking from the kitchen bench out through to the entertaining spaces of the swimming pool and cabana was a pair of large sliding doors. To ensure the house layout could flow we needed to ensure this view and access was not hindered by a support post on the corner.

To resolve this, we designed a creative concrete beam that projected up within the walls over and was completely concealed. This allowed the frameless corner without compromising the architecture. No posts and no ceiling bulkheads, just the large open span living spaces and uninterrupted openings.
